A BRIEF ABOUT THE IMPLEMENTING ORGANIZATION

The Shilpsree Mahila Sewa Samiti

 was established in the year 2002-2003  as a society incorporated under the Indian Societies Registration Act 1860. Besides this, the organization is also registered under FCRA 1976. The organization has been also granted exemption under Section 12 (a) & 80 G of the Indian Income Tax Act 1961. 

The organization was established and is being managed by dedicated team women artisans and social activists with the objectives of meeting the socio-economic developmental needs of the deprived and poorer sections of the society particularly in rural areas.  Ever since its inception it has been involved in carrying out various developmental programmes.

The major areas of developmental activities include:-

  1. Vocational/ Skill development training and employment oriented programmes for women and youths with emphasis on minorities and backward castes;
  2. Health care and Family welfare;
  3. SHG formation, capacity building and promotion of institutional system of working;
  4. Cottage and handicraft development;
  5. Programmes for sustainable agriculture;
  6. Research studies, surveys and campaigns for holistic development of rural areas;
  7. Literacy and education promotion with a focus to women and school dropout/non-school going children;
  8. Welfare activities for socially excluded community;
  9. Envrionment conservation

 Introduction

Shilpshree Mahila Sewa Samiti (SMSS)

A voluntary organization established in the year 2003 incorporated under Indian Societies Registration Act 1860.   The society is managed by a dedicated team of women artisans/social activists and volunteers and is headed by a WOMAN. It is working for holistic development of the rural community by promoting livelihood enhancement, women empowerment, conservation of environment, health care and education promotion. The organization has its Registered Office at Village & Post Anwari, District Barabanki and Administrative office at 1/256, Sector – 1, Vikas Nagar,  Lucknow - U.P.

Main objectives:

The objectives of SMSS is to meet the socio-economic developmental needs of the deprived and poorer sections of the society with a focus to women and children particularly in rural areas.

Vision and Mission of the Society:

Vision- The organization has set its Vision to empower the resource poor community in managing development and welfare activities/schemes and local resources to meet their need in a participatory manner and collaborative spirit.

Mission-  The organization has resolved to work for sustainable holistic development by empowering rural community with a focus to women and artisans by providing quality education, health, family welfare, vocational training and creating awareness, Conservation of environment and inculcation of values and culture” thereby achieving the overall objectives of contributing towards the all-round development of the deprived section of the society.

 

Organization structure & Hierarchy:

The management of the organization is vested on the board members which are eleven in numbers.  The office bearers consisting of the President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer take care of the respective responsibilities of the organization.  The board normally meets on quarterly basis and in addition, extra meetings are convened depending upon the need and urgency of matters.  The board passes necessary resolution before submitting programmes and projects for approval to the donor departments/agencies.  In matters of recruitment and appointments, procurement of equipments/materials, monitoring financial and programme matters, the board exercises necessary control, supervision and direction for achieving optimum results.

Human Resources

Human resource is not a constraint for implementing any programme taken up by the organization.  A dedicated team of administrative staff looks after the administration control, accounts and other related activities of the organization. Besides this, the team of dedicated project staff including field workers, trainers, teachers and volunteers are also engaged.  All are qualified and experienced to implement the projects run by the organization.  Further, the organization has a panel of

experts whose services are engaged as and when required as per programme needs.  The organization follows sound HR principles for recruitment and appointment of staff. An ideal working environment is crated so that the full potential of the staff is delivered for implementation of programmes.

Other resources

The organization has its office building and rented premises. The H.Q. serves the purpose of managing in implementation of programmes.  Besides, the organization possess other project offices in the filed. The offices are adequately furnished with modern equipments such as computer systems, training aids, necessary furniture and fixtures, electrical and electronic equipments, communication system etc.  Necessary vehicles are being arranged for visiting to field areas for monitoring and supervision of activities run by the organization as and when required.
